WP1: Observational epidemiological investigation and data aggregation

The aggregation and integration of unique high quality datasets built from over 10 years of investment and cohort development will be used to address the following questions:

      clinical research

      1. What are the cardio-metabolic profiles of those who have high sedentary behaviour?
      2. What is the relationship between sedentary time and markers of metabolic and vascular health, and other health outcomes, and is this independent of weight status, diet and physical activity?
      3. Does a biological gradient exist in length of sedentary time, number of transitions from sedentary time, and intensity of the replacement behaviour?
      4. Are these relationships modified by sex, ethnicity, age, obesity or presence of chronic disease?
