      Sedentary Behaviour
Sedentary behaviour (sitting time) has become a major issue in public health research in recent years with evidence showing negative health effects of high levels of sitting, often independent of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity.

The British Heart Foundation National Centre for Physical Activity & Health at Loughborough University has produced some simple ‘fact sheets’ to help health professionals better understand key issues associated with sedentary behaviour. There are three fact sheets cover a ‘what is sedentary behaviour?’, current levels of sedentary behaviour, and the factors influencing sedentary behaviour.
